Ryoko Ohara is the Director of ELEGGUA Entertainment (Tokyo). Originally trained as a ballet dancer at the English National Ballet School, she moved from ballet to salsa after a knee injury at the age of 24. Since then, Ryoko has become one of Tokyo's leading salsa dancers. She was the first Asian artist to be honored at the LA Salsa Congress (2003) and has performed and taught at festivals around the world. She reached the finals of the World Salsa Championship (Las Vegas) and won first place in the Japanese version of Dance With the Stars. She has appeared on several popular Japanese TV shows and recently worked as a choreographer for singer Mariko Takahashi's Japan Tour. In 2024, Ryoko relocated to Isumi, Chiba, to pursue a lifestyle in harmony with nature and community. Her new work is building a Latin dance culture that fits local life.
